MILF Nutritional Program – Testimonials
MILF Nutritional Program Testimonials
***MILF Maeve***
I decided to apply for the MILF program, as I was stuck in such a rut of eating crap food, I had become queen of take-away’s, and my ‘goodie press’ resembled something out of Willy Wonkas chocolate factory. While weight wasn’t a massive issue for me, I did want to lose a few pounds that I had gained in previous months. I found it a bit daunting at the start, but as we got into it I began to feel more comfortable about it all.
I have learned that planning ahead is key. Being accountable to the Chief Freak every day meant there was no room to misbehave! I will admit I found some days hard going, but then again nobody said it was going to be easy; if you really want something, you have to work hard for the results.
The programme was about being consistent and making little changes over time. I have been taught lessons for life that will hopefully help me maintain a healthy lifestyle into the future and most of all I have learned good food doesn’t have to be boring. (FF Pizza and protein balls were 2 of my saviours during this programme!!)
As for the other MILFS, what a great bunch of ladies; I think by being part of a group we managed to keep each other going and had the laughs along the way. And last, but by no means least, the Chief Freak himself… What can I say! You gave me the push I needed and I am so thankful for it. You kept us all motivated throughout with your recipes, tips, support and advice. God knows we probably did your head in at times! You are a gent Richard Kennedy, keep up the good work! BOOOMMM!!! #freakfamilyforlife!!

I decided to apply to do the MILF’d programme to primarily lose weight, but also to establish better eating habits. I have a 3 year old and a baby of 11 months who still wakes every night. On return to work my eating got much worse with just trying to get through the day. Energy levels were very low, mood was up and down and the weight was going up and up. I liked the idea of being in a group where everyone was on the same journey and, although my main priority was to shift the weight, there was a huge focus on changing eating habits.
When I got the first few recipes like the protein balls, off I went to the supermarket and health shop. Admittedly, there were a few items on the ingredients list that I never heard of! But you just have to be determined, up for trying something new and just go for it. The gradual changes over the course of the first 3 weeks are great because it’s not such a huge shock to the system.
My weak times of the week are Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I’m tired by Thursday, that’s usually my takeaway day. Then, there’s a lot of eating out at the weekend. That’s when I battled the most. This is where the support of the group is fantastic. You can have a vent if you are having a bad day and the girls are there to will you on.
The food preparation takes time in the morning, but those extra few minutes in the kitchen set you up for the whole day and you then don’t need to think about food. Also the meal planner for just 2 or 3 days is really important, especially at weekends.
I can’t believe after finishing that I have stuck to my new habits out of just wanting to. I did not feel it was a chore continuing to eat this way.
The changes I noticed the most were the weight loss and the looser clothes, which are fantastic, but my energy levels have evened off. I’m not snacking very much at all and I’m just happy to have my protein balls or fruit. Also my reliance and “need” of carbohydrates has dramatically reduced to the point of having a very small quantity at one meal.
This journey has been incredible for me. I feel I’ve got back in control of myself and as a result I feel more confident. Without wanting to sound to dramatic I feel empowered by taking control. So onwards and upwards!!!

One of the hardest parts was actually signing on: Saying “yep, I want to do this, I’m going for it”. Especially as the MILF Nutrition Programme/Bootcamp was never, even given miracles, going to bring me to a place at the end of six weeks where my body weight was where I wanted it to be. So it’s that commitment needed, not only to the six weeks, but beyond that, is hard… I had all those negative thoughts that try sabotage my desire to start, the what if’s , the maybe’s etc.
“I want to re-define my relationship with, and attitude to food; full stop”. “I want to enjoy good healthy food as a fuel for my body, not as a way to ‘comfort’ or ‘reward’ myself.”
That’s what I wanted from the programme and, of course, weight loss as starting platform to continue after. My eating habits were pretty awful just prior to signing up: not main meals – there was room for improvement there- just the level of crap/sugar that I was consuming.
Deciding to sign up made me start cutting out the really obvious shite. MILF started working before it even started! I’m glad I did because I think I suffered the worst of those sugar withdrawals in those two weeks.
So, what did I learn: I can honestly say I tried all the recipes (except olives) and enjoyed everything I ate on the MILF. I might not have mastered the recipes straight away, but I got there. The Natural/Greek yogurt was a big thing for me. Now at the end of the six weeks I relish it with my few berries, and nuts and seeds. It took a while for my palate to adjust to the lack of obvious sugar.
Nuts/seeds and the holy grail of dates, medjools, I will never be without any of them again. Likewise PROTEIN BALLS… Absolute life savers! It is liberating to have snacks that are healthy; it is liberating not to have the biscuit tin yelling out your name from the other room. I found it was easy to go gluten free for the six weeks… Think I’ll be keeping that up.
The recipes were easy to follow and quick to prepare, and there was plenty of variety. Seeing what the other girls were posting and getting ideas/recipes from them was another a real bonus. Also different people had different ideas/suggestions on how to make things a bit easier. From the FF Pizza to Quinoa salad and my favourite chicken wraps (appeals to the picker in me), the recipes were tasty, really tasty, and not dull and boring. The salads and cheese combinations are fab. I was pleasantly surprised by how much variety there is on offer.
Planning, planning, planning… a little goes a long way and it’s so great to be organised when your household, by its nature, can be a bit chaotic. I also had my food plans done three days in advance for a couple of reasons: it focused me; it helped with shopping, but it also allowed time to change if I came across some nice food when out shopping, (fresh fish on offer, etc.)
Hack: Emailed plan to myself, so I could check it on mobile and stay on track, and also just to double check when shopping that I had everything. Three days meant I had some variety built in to planning stage. Same with shopping list.
Also had one MILF approved meal either in the freezer or in the fridge: turkey mince chilli, making of omelette etc.
Hack: yogi pot & smoothie for out and about: keep insulated travel coffee mug in the fridge/freezer; make up yogi pot/smoothie in it. Keeps it nice and cold.
Highlights:
Definitely stepping on the scales and it’s moving in the right direction.
Enjoying food and mastering how to make smoothies. Having uses for the huge patch of mint I have growing in the garden.
The interaction in the group on the FB page.
My children trying bits and pieces of what I was making and my husband loving the food I was making.
Lows:
Self inflicted, over thinking/ worrying about cravings before they even happened. There was always going to be a couple of times/days when it felt harder than others, and like the rest of the time, this has nothing to do with food, just with having a crap day, energy levels low, nada, nada, nada. There were evenings when I just took myself off to bed as far away from the kitchen and the late evening nibbles being ate in the front room as possible.
The odd crisis of confidence; that I was eating too much albeit the good stuff, not losing enough weight.
What I learned:
How easy it is to mindlessly eat without even being aware of what I was eating; how much of a picker I was. How much of what I ate was governed not by hunger, but emotions.
I also learned though, that it is relatively easy to learn new habits that make you mindful. If you have to photograph your food, that means you plate it up; if you plate it up nicely, it looks more appetising; if you’ve put a bit of effort into making it look nice and taste good, you’re far more likely to sit down and eat it properly, even if it’s in a ninja style tubberware container. If you take time to enjoy it, it is more satisfying. I don’t think I had any of my meals not sitting down over the last six weeks, even when they were on-the-go meals out and about. That in itself is an achievement.
What I learned about myself:
I know more than what I think I do. I have a good attitude the majority of the time. I can be more confident in trusting my instincts… your line Richie, “if in your gut you know it crap, it is crap”. I have the ability to focus, plan and stick with the plan. “Small daily improvements are the key to long term staggering results.” That really hit home and gave me a great lift during the programme that became my mantra when self-doubt came calling.
Has the MILF programme delivered /met my expectations? 100% yes. It has exceeded them in terms of my weight loss goals for the six weeks, so new targets have being set, but more importantly I see this way of eating as a sustainable one going forward. And yes, there will be a bit more wriggle room every now and then, but the penny has dropped (again). That good nutritional food has to be a way of life, not just a crash diet.

I have learned so much: what to eat, when to eat it, and realising what the body actually needs to function.
It might sound weird, but on occasions I realised I did need some carbs, the same way that I realised that I don’t always need them to keep going. (One was after a spin I told you about, and the other one was some evening after work I had some in my dinner and I picked up). I did have a lot of days without carbs and, surprisingly enough, I didn’t miss it.
At the start I was so happy it was all good, good, every week the scale was going down. But felt down a bit after a while, week three or four I think. Tired etc… Even if I had no reason to be sorry for myself.
You often say you are what you eat; it’s so true… my weekend away in Bordeaux was an eye opener for me. I was determined to stay on track, which I did to a point. That Sunday night BBQ was a disaster: Salad with rice, potatoes, mayonnaise, bread etc… Nothing that matched the plan, but I had to eat or starve.
Next Monday I tried to do better, so ate tiny bit of rice, but felt so uncomfortable in myself after rich food that it was easy, so it was a little set back. The scale went up by 2 pounds. I was disappointed in myself on Tuesday, so that night went for a long walk /run. I hate running, but you got to do what u got to do. I readjusted quickly though because by Thursday the extra pounds were gone. Happy again! All of this is to show that you have to be in control and, if not, be prepared to pay the price for it. I learned valuable lessons during these 6 weeks.
The food recipes we experimented were lovely and it shows that healthy doesn’t mean not tasty: bug thumbs up for pizza. Family hit!
All in all, thank you for giving me a chance to feel better, look better, and most importantly, stop hating myself and my reflection in the mirror, as it gets to me just like so many women. When I’m down or pissed off, let’s say the truth, I’ll go for a nice long power walk with upbeat music, rather than eat chocolate! That time is victory.
Merci mille fois Richie

A few words of feed back
I always wanted to try one of the chief Freaks Nutrition/ Weight Loss program; was delighted when I got the e-mail from the Chief Freak himself letting me know that I was in. Prior to joining the MILF group I would consider myself to be fit and a good healthy eater, but found myself in a rut afraid of trying different foods.
One thing that I have learnt from program is that foods that are labelled “Low Fat” are not always the right choice and the healthy option. Receiving your fitness freak pack on your first week, I felt it gave me a good kick start into the program.
Having the support of the Chief Freak and the other group members definitely keeps you motivated along the six week journey. I have definitely learnt a lot more about nutrition and this I will keep as part of my lifestyle.
I would like to say a big thank to you, Richie, and also not forgetting the other group members.
Thank you all for the great support along the way.
